Top Ten Reasons to Go to the SOC Convention

That’s right, whether you’re still considering going to the August event, or have already purchased a ticket and just want to get excited for conference, we’ve created the top ten reasons that you would attend. It’s all in the name of fun, but feel free to share with your teams. Before we share, though, we have a few quick convention items that you should be aware of:

- Due to popular demand, we have opened additional seats for our convention workshops. They are available now. If you need to request changes to your schedule, please e-mail support@sendoutcards.com. You can only request changes to your own schedule, and your guests will need to request their own changes for themselves.

- We’ve also begun mailing convention badges and packets. From now until the end of July, we will print and mail badges weekly for new online registrants. We will only mail your badge one time. If you requested changes after your badge was printed, your updated schedule may not be reflected on the back of the badge. Please do not worry, your information is stored in our system and attached to the barcode for your badge.

EFTBN Meetings

SendOutCards has grown in leaps and bounds this past year, and as each month passes, we realize there are hundreds of new distributors who are stepping into the unknown and are excited to get their SendOutCards business rolling.

Many of you may not realize that there are monthly meetings across North America for SendOutCards distributors. At these meetings, you have access to training that can help you gain important knowledge that can make a difference in the year ahead and get your questions answered. In case you were wondering, EFTBN stands for Eagles Flight Team Building Network. It was originally a program designed by Jordan Adler, the number one team builder at SendOutCards. Fourth of July Message

Every Fourth of July is filled with festivities. From fireworks and baseball games to parades and picnics, we have a list of favorite activities that help us celebrate our independence in the United States. Many of you will say that sending patriotic greeting cards has been added to the ways you personally celebrate this holiday.

Marvin Desselle recently wrote us and shared a heartfelt story we just had to share:

“I recently met a man who lost his home to a flood in his area. He felt down on his luck and was somewhat troubled. Eventually I went on my way but not before learning we were both war veterans.

Later that day, I had a strong prompting to send him a card, which I did. About a week later, I received a call from him where he told me, in part, ‘You’re the first person since my return from Vietnam, over thirty years ago, that has ever taken time to thank me for my service there. You have touched this old man’s heart. Thank you and God bless.’ I was deeply moved to know a single card could mean so much.”

This story not only reminds us how important it is to reach out to those who have served in the armed forces, but to show others how much it means to us to be free people, no matter where you live.

This is just one of many stories of card senders changing the world, thanks to all your efforts and heartfelt cards. Enjoy the upcoming holiday festivities!

Celebrating Fathers

It’s almost the third Sunday of June. Father’s Day approaches, and everyone is rushing to the store to purchase an electronic gift or new tool. We’ve all been there before, but this year we wanted to not only remind you to send your fathers a heartfelt card or gift, but also to take a moment and appreciate all they have done for us.

Our fathers are supermen in their own right and in small ways have made big impact in our lives. Many have worked long hours to ensure their children are provided for. They’ve shared their experience and wisdom with us — even though sometimes we didn’t want to hear it — and helped steer us in the right direction. They’ve even taken the time to read us stories, play games with us, or just talk.

Harmon Killebrew, baseball Hall of Famer, once said “My father used to play with my brother and me in the yard. Mother would come out and say, ‘You’re tearing up the grass.’ ‘We’re not raising grass,’” Dad would reply. “We’re raising boys.”

We are grateful for our fathers and want to thank all of you, fathers, for your simple but remarkable ways.

Convention Updates

Here at the home office we are certainly buzzing with activity as we prepare for the 2008 convention. From workshops and keynote speakers to live music and dance, we know you’ll have a blast as we both train and celebrate together.

We are also sending each of you on an autoship a special gift: an issue of SUCCESS magazine with a convention wrap. At the age of fifteen Kody Bateman picked up his first piece of self-help literature, and he hasn’t stopped reading them since. He stumbled upon SUCCESS when he was twenty-six and feels there’s something in it for everyone. Enjoy the words of wisdom and convention updates found within!

I hope many of you have purchased your tickets to convention. We are ready to rock Salt Lake City and SEND IT OUT!!! This convention has the makings of an unforgettable event - from VIP's, parties, new live acts, and top distributors.

Come prepared to sharpen your personal skills. The company has grown and so have the number of distributors and people you don't know. So come meet each other and enjoy being amongst the best group of people. Continue to give and send out those messages of hope and kindness.

The contact sheet not only helps others go through the process of joining SendOutCards but is a great way to stay organized and not to get overwhelmed. Just concentrate on ten people, and when you’ve given each of them a good chance at becoming a card sender move on to the next ten.

Malibu Boats

The belief behind sending out cards is that instead of sending out to get, we send out to give. This is something that Kody illustrated quiet clearly in the early years of SendOutCards. At Malibu Boats’ national conference, Kody helped 115 dealers send his daughter a birthday card. What’s most interesting is the response he got afterwards!

This week, everyone here at SendOutCards has been strongly reminded about The Big Picture of this business.

With the passing of Diane Bateman, Kody’s mother, we have all be so impressed with the outpouring of sympathy and love from all of you. When I walked into Kody’s office this morning, he was going through the piles of cards on his desk. With tears in his eyes, he said, “This is such an incredible thing we’re doing.”

Yes, this is an incredible thing that we’re doing.

So often we get caught up in the little picture activities of everyday living. Sometimes, it takes something like this to remind us about the big picture of our lives.

We’re all blessed by the vision Diane Bateman passed on to her son: send out positive energy and dare to make a difference.

Here's a little more about Loralee:

Loralee comes from a retail background with 11 years in purchasing, management, product evaluation, and customer service. One of the things we like most about her is her experience with the Nostrom philosophy. She knows how to serve a customer! Interestingly enough, she shares a birthday with our customer service manager, Paul, on 4/21.

She's excited with the opportunity SendOutCards offers to expand her skills. She looks forward to adding new gifts to our product selection regularly.

Another thing she likes about SendOutCards is the philosophy. "Sending out to give" was the clincher when she decided to come here.

One of our primary goals at SendOutCards is to continue to improve our systems and services. Due to the holiday rush, we weren’t able to give proper acknowledgement to our new Postal Manager, Steve Diamond, affectionately know as the “Mail Boy.”

Since he was hired in November, Steve, whose birthday is 9/27, has streamlined our gifting processes, introduced new software and technology to reduce system and user error, helped us reduce costs, and acted as our liaison with the United States Postal Service in negotiating some very beneficial changes for our shipping. We have all been dazzled and amazed by our postal magician.

Just to give you an idea of how incredible he is, Steve has also been instrumental in improving our gifting process. Before Steve, our gift shipping was a laborious process that required personnel to manually package, label, and address all gifts. Since Steve, we’ve reduced the time it takes to process a gift for shipping to 3.5 seconds per gift.

Steve is currently working on a few projects that you will all be interested in. As a sneak peak, here are a few:

- Installing a camera system in production that will take pictures of every card, eliminating duplicate prints and mis-stuffs.

- Reducing scuff marks on postcards by reducing the number of postal machines they have to go through by 80%.

- Implementing address scrubbing software designed to help SendOutCards and our users correct addresses in our system that have mistakes due to user inputting errors (this means less delays in the post office and fewer returned cards.)

- Tracking systems for gifts and cards.

Before coming to SendOutCards, Steve worked for seven years on behalf of other customers of the post office. He has an impressive track record and strong relationship with the post office. He has even recruited a SOC representative within the post office.

In spite of working his first 24-hour day during the holidays, Steve says that he loves his job here at SOC headquarters. He likes finding ways to improve our systems and appreciates that we allow him to do what he does best. Glad you’re here Steve!
